Short answer: Twin Peaks was founded in 2005 in Lewisville, Texas. FAT Brands bought it in 2021 and listed it on the stock market in 2025, but both companies filed for Chapter 11 in January 2026. In June 2026 Twin Peaks left FAT Brands and became privately held as Summit Twin Hospitality I, LLC. Summit Acquisitions, a group of Twin Peaks franchise operators acting for bondholders, now manages the brand and is working toward buying it outright.

How Twin Peaks started

The first Twin Peaks opened in Lewisville, a suburb north of Dallas, in 2005. Its mountain lodge theme, scratch made food and draft beer served at 29 degrees set it apart from other sports bars, and the chain grew quickly across Texas and the South with a mix of company owned and franchised lodges.

Who is behind Summit Acquisitions?

Summit Acquisitions is made up of experienced Twin Peaks franchise operators, including 3BMgmnt, JEB Food Group and Operadora 2 Montes. Because they already run lodges, the group knows the brand from the inside. It took over day to day management while acting on behalf of the bondholders who were owed money in the bankruptcy.

Lodges stayed open. Throughout the bankruptcy and the separation from FAT Brands, Twin Peaks restaurants kept operating normally, with the same menu, beer program and specials.

What this means for customers

Very little changed at the table. The menu, the 29 degree beer and the happy hour deals continue, though prices and specials vary from lodge to lodge because some are company owned and others franchised. See typical prices on the Twin Peaks menu.
