Subway Menu Prices at a Glance

Subway prices swing more from store to store than any other chain in America, and there is a simple reason. Every restaurant is franchised, there is no company owned estate setting a benchmark, and operators price against their own rent. A footlong Italian B.M.T. that costs $11.29 in a suburban strip mall can be $14 in an airport and $10 in a small town.

So treat the numbers below as the middle of the national range rather than a fixed price list. They are in store figures checked across several states in September 2026. Delivery apps add roughly 30 percent on top, which is where most of the eye watering Subway prices circulating online come from.

Quick answer: A footlong Subway Series sub runs $11.49 to $12.99 and the six inch is a little under two thirds of that. Sub of the Day is $4.99 for a six inch. Vegetables and sauces are free. A Footlong Cookie is $3.99.

Subway Deals and Value Menu

Subway leans on a handful of standing deals rather than a permanent dollar menu. Sub of the Day is the oldest and still the cheapest way to eat here, and the sandwich changes by day of the week at each restaurant.

Deal Price What you get
Deli Faves 6 inch $3.99 A short list of simple subs including Cold Cut Combo and B.L.T.
Sub of the Day 6 inch $4.99 A different classic sub each day of the week
Meal of the Day $6.99 Sub of the Day plus chips and a drink
Footlong Pro upgrade Plus $3.00 Doubles the protein on any footlong
Subway MVP Rewards Free Points on every order, tiered rewards, app only offers

The app is where the deep discounts sit. Subway runs buy one get one free footlong codes and percentage off codes most weeks, and they are usually better than anything on the in store board. Because franchises opt in individually, a code that works at one restaurant can be refused at the next one down the road.

The Subway Series Menu by Number

Subway Series subs are ordered by number and come built to a fixed recipe rather than made to your spec. That is the whole point of them. You say the number, the restaurant makes it the same way every time, and the line moves faster.

No. Name 6 Inch Footlong
No. 1 The Philly (cheesesteak) $8.29 $12.49
No. 2 The Outlaw (cheesesteak) $7.99 $11.99
No. 3 The Monster (cheesesteak) $8.59 $12.99
No. 4 Supreme Meats (italiano) $7.99 $11.99
No. 5 Bella Mozza (italiano) $7.69 $11.49
No. 6 The Boss (italiano) $7.69 $11.49
No. 7 The MexiCali (chicken) $7.99 $11.99
No. 8 The Great Garlic (chicken) $7.69 $11.49
No. 9 The Champ (chicken) $8.29 $12.49
No. 10 All-American Club (club) $7.69 $11.49
No. 11 Subway Club (club) $7.99 $11.99
No. 12 Turkey Cali Fresh (club) $7.99 $11.99

Those twelve are the original Series and they are the ones on every menu board. Subway has added higher numbers since, including Titan Turkey, Garlic Roast Beef, Steak and Cheese Cali Fresh and The Ultimate B.M.T., and it has retired others. The numbering is not a clean sequence, so if you see a number in the teens or higher on a board, it is a later addition and availability varies by restaurant.

You can still change them. Ordering by number does not lock you in. Ask for a Series sub with something removed or added and the sandwich maker will do it. The number just gets you to the recipe faster.

Subway Classic Subs

The classics are the build your own side of the menu and they are where the cheaper sandwiches live. Every one of them comes with your choice of bread, cheese, vegetables and sauces at no extra charge, which is the part people forget when comparing prices against a Series sub.

Calories above are for the footlong on Artisan Italian with cheese and standard vegetables, no sauce. Halve them for the six inch. Sauce is where the number moves most, and the next few tables show by how much.

Subway Breads

Bread is a free choice on every sub and it is the biggest single swing in the calorie count before you get to sauce. Bread is baked in the restaurant through the day rather than delivered finished.

Bread 6 Inch Calories Footlong Calories Notes
Artisan Italian 200 400 Plain white, the default
Hearty Multigrain 210 420 Highest fibre option
Flatbread 230 460 Softer, holds fillings better
Italian Herbs and Cheese 240 480 Cheese and herb topping baked on
Jalapeno Cheese 240 480 Pepper flecks through the crust
Tomato Basil Wrap 290 Not applicable Wraps take double the filling

A gluten free option is available at a minority of restaurants, usually as a pre wrapped roll rather than baked in store. It is not a certified gluten free preparation because the same work surface handles wheat bread all day, so it is not suitable for coeliac disease.

Subway Cheese

Cheese is included at no extra cost on every sub and the differences between them are small. Doubling up on cheese is usually a small upcharge.

Cheese 6 Inch Calories Notes
American 40 Two triangles, the default
Shredded Mozzarella 40 Used on the italianos
Feta 40 Crumbled, at most restaurants
Provolone 50 Milder than it looks
Monterey Cheddar 50 Blend, melts well toasted
Pepper Jack 50 Mild heat

Subway Sauces and Dressings

Every sauce is free and you can have more than one. This is also the fastest way to add several hundred calories to a sandwich without noticing, because a footlong takes double the serving shown here.

Sauce 6 Inch Calories Style
Red Wine Vinegar 0 Sharp, no fat
Yellow Mustard 5 Standard
Deli Brown Mustard 15 Coarser and stronger
Marinara 20 Used on the meatball
Honey Mustard 30 Sweet, fat free
Sweet Onion 40 Fat free, the teriyaki sauce
MVP Vinaigrette 40 Herb and oil blend
Oil 45 Blended olive oil
Buffalo 50 Vinegar and cayenne
Baja Chipotle 90 Smoky and creamy
Mayonnaise 100 Full fat
Chipotle Southwest 100 Creamy with heat
Ranch 110 Buttermilk
Peppercorn Ranch 110 Ranch with black pepper
Garlic Aioli 130 The heaviest on the line
Do the maths on a footlong. Garlic aioli on a footlong is 260 calories of sauce alone, more than half a serving of the bread. Red wine vinegar and yellow mustard cost you almost nothing and still give the sandwich something. Vegetables are all free and none of them are worth worrying about, with the whole standard veg selection coming in under 30 calories on a footlong.

Subway Breakfast

Subway does serve breakfast, but only at restaurants that choose to, and the number that do has shrunk over the years. Locations inside travel plazas, hospitals, airports and campuses are the most likely to run it. Standalone suburban restaurants often do not.

Breakfast Sandwich 6 Inch Footlong 6 Inch Calories
Egg and Cheese $4.99 $7.99 360
Black Forest Ham, Egg and Cheese $5.49 $8.79 400
Bacon, Egg and Cheese $5.79 $9.29 450
Steak, Egg and Cheese $6.29 $9.99 430

Where breakfast is served it usually runs from opening until around 11am. Call ahead rather than assuming, because there is no way to tell from outside which restaurants take part.

Salads, Wraps and Protein Bowls

A salad is the sub filling served over greens with no bread. A protein bowl is the same idea with double the protein of a footlong, which is why it costs more than the sandwich. A wrap uses a tomato basil tortilla and takes footlong quantities of filling, so it is not the lighter option people assume.

Format Price Range What it is
Salad $8.99 to $11.49 Footlong filling over greens, no bread, dressing free
Wrap $10.99 to $13.49 Tomato basil tortilla, footlong quantity of filling
Protein Bowl $11.99 to $14.99 Double the protein of a footlong, no bread

If you are counting calories, the salad is the clear win. Dropping the bread on an Italian B.M.T. takes roughly 400 calories off before you touch anything else. The wrap goes the other way, because the tortilla is heavier than two slices of bread and it holds twice the filling of a six inch.

Sides, Cookies and Footlong Snacks

The Footlong Cookie is the item that made the news and it is exactly what it sounds like. It is built to share and one on your own is close to two thirds of a day’s calories.

Side or Snack Price Calories
Cookie $0.99 200 to 220
Apple Slices $1.49 35
Chips $1.79 210 to 260
3 Cookies $2.49 600 to 660
Cinnabon Footlong Churro $3.29 340
Soup $3.49 90 to 240
Footlong Cookie $3.99 1330
Auntie Anne’s Footlong Pretzel $3.99 510
12 Cookies $7.99 2400 to 2640

Subway Drinks

Fountain drinks come in two cup sizes at most restaurants and refills are free in the dining room where there is a self serve machine.

Drink Price Calories
Coffee $2.19 0
Bottled Water $2.29 0
Fountain Drink 21 oz $2.79 0 to 250
Bottled Soda $2.99 0 to 240
Fountain Drink 30 oz $3.29 0 to 360

Subway Kids Meals

The kids meal is a four inch mini sub with a side and a drink. Apple slices and milk swap in for the cookie and the soda at no extra cost.

Kids Meal Price Calories
Veggie Delite Mini Sub Meal $6.29 280 to 520
Black Forest Ham Mini Sub Meal $6.29 330 to 570
Turkey Breast Mini Sub Meal $6.29 330 to 570
Roast Beef Mini Sub Meal $6.49 340 to 580

Subway Opening Hours

Hours vary more at Subway than at any other major chain because of where the restaurants sit. A standalone store keeps normal retail hours, a store inside a Walmart follows the store, and one in a hospital or an airport follows the building.

Location Type Opens Closes Notes
Standalone restaurant 8:00am to 9:00am 9:00pm to 10:00pm Most common, breakfast at some
Inside a supermarket Follows the store Follows the store Often closes an hour before the store
Travel plaza or highway Early or 24 hours Late or 24 hours Most likely to serve breakfast
Campus or hospital Follows the building Follows the building Reduced hours in holiday periods

How to Order at Subway for Less

Check the app before you walk in. Subway runs buy one get one free footlong codes more often than not, and a single code turns two footlongs into roughly the price of one. Nothing on the in store board competes with that.

Sub of the Day is the standing cheap order at $4.99 for a six inch, and the Meal of the Day at $6.99 adds chips and a drink for two dollars, which is less than buying either separately. Load up on vegetables because they are free and they make a cheap sub eat like an expensive one. And if you are buying for two, one footlong cut in half is always cheaper than two six inch subs, usually by a dollar fifty or more.

One thing that catches people out. The Footlong Pro upgrade doubles the protein for $3, which is good value against ordering a second sub but poor value against just buying the Series sub that already has more meat on it. Compare the two before you add it.

Subway Nutrition Notes

Subway is genuinely easy to eat lightly at, more so than any other national chain, because you control the bread, the sauce and the cheese. A six inch Oven Roasted Turkey on Hearty Multigrain with all the vegetables, mustard and no cheese comes in around 250 calories, and that is a real meal rather than a compromise.

The traps are sauce and format. Garlic aioli or ranch on a footlong is 220 to 260 calories on its own. A wrap sounds lighter than bread and is not, because the tortilla is heavier and it takes footlong quantities of filling. And the meatball and chicken bacon ranch footlongs both clear 950 calories before sauce, which puts them level with the heaviest burgers in fast food. On sodium, the cured meats are the issue rather than the bread, so the turkey, roast beef and veggie options run well below the B.M.T. and the cold cut combo.

Subway Menu FAQ

How much is a footlong at Subway?

Most footlongs run $9 to $13 depending on the filling. Veggie Delite is around $8.99 at the low end and Steak and Cheese around $12.49 at the high end. Subway Series footlongs sit between $11.49 and $12.99. Every restaurant is franchised and sets its own prices, so the range between markets is wide.

What are the Subway Series numbers?

The original twelve are 1 The Philly, 2 The Outlaw and 3 The Monster as cheesesteaks, 4 Supreme Meats, 5 Bella Mozza and 6 The Boss as italianos, 7 The MexiCali, 8 The Great Garlic and 9 The Champ as chicken, and 10 All-American Club, 11 Subway Club and 12 Turkey Cali Fresh as clubs. Higher numbers added later include Titan Turkey, Garlic Roast Beef and The Ultimate B.M.T.

Are Subway vegetables and sauces free?

Yes. Every vegetable and every sauce is included at no extra cost, and you can have more than one sauce. Extra cheese, extra meat and avocado carry upcharges. The whole standard vegetable selection adds under 30 calories to a footlong, while garlic aioli adds 260.

Does Subway serve breakfast?

Only at restaurants that choose to, and fewer do than used to. Locations in travel plazas, airports, hospitals and on campuses are the most likely. Where it runs, breakfast is usually served from opening until around 11am and covers egg and cheese, bacon, ham and steak versions. Call ahead because there is no way to tell from outside.

What is the Sub of the Day at Subway?

A rotating classic sub at $4.99 for a six inch, with a different sandwich for each day of the week. The Meal of the Day adds chips and a drink for $6.99. Which sub falls on which day is set by the individual franchise, so it varies between restaurants.

How many calories are in a Footlong Cookie?

Around 1,330 calories for the whole thing, and it costs $3.99. It is built to share between three or four people. A single regular Subway cookie is 200 to 220 calories.

Which Subway bread has the fewest calories?

Artisan Italian is the lightest at 200 calories for a six inch and 400 for a footlong. Hearty Multigrain is close at 210 and carries more fibre. Italian Herbs and Cheese and Jalapeno Cheese are the heaviest at 240 for a six inch. The wrap is heavier still at 290 and holds double the filling.

Is a Subway wrap healthier than a sub?

Usually not. The tomato basil tortilla is around 290 calories on its own, more than six inches of most breads, and a wrap takes footlong quantities of filling. If you want the lighter option, order a salad or a protein bowl, which drops the bread entirely and saves roughly 400 calories against a footlong.

Why do Subway prices vary so much between stores?

Every Subway in the United States is franchised and there is no company owned estate setting a benchmark, so each operator prices against their own rent and labour. The same footlong can differ by three or four dollars between a small town restaurant and an airport. Delivery apps add another 30 percent on top of whatever the store charges.

Can you still customise a Subway Series sub?

Yes. Ordering by number gets you a fixed recipe made the same way every time, which is faster, but you can still ask for anything added or left off. The number is a shortcut, not a restriction.
